Theres something wrong here

Posted in Uncategorized by Tim Brownlaw - Jul 28 2007

I once bought my first TShirt that had the words
“I pay attention to Detail”.

I never tried it on at the time because I was in a rush.

I took it home and tried it on and on looking down I thought
“hey the words are upside down”

Not really a true story but I’m sure its happened to someone :)

A Curious TShirt Example

Posted in Uncategorized by Tim Brownlaw - Jul 28 2007

I was wondering, if I had a TShirt that had the letters P.T.O on both sides, how many people would be running around me reading it.

Can we use TextPattern for a Gallery

Posted in Notes to myself, Textpattern by Tim Brownlaw - Jul 01 2007

I’ve been having a quick read about implementing a photo gallery using textpattern.

It appears that the only way is to do this is to setup a new page for the piccys and post single articles with a picture in each.

This then begs the question, how to we navigate to these pictures.

Galleries have Catagories and Sections.
Navigation would be something like:

# Your Stories
# Display Links for all families
# Have a series of photos for each family

Need to look into how to implement this.
Textpattern as such is a more flat level kind of structure and it may lend to looking at alternatives.

One Suggestion to use is Expression Engine ( a paid CMS System)

It has a lot more scope and the ability to manage a bunch of sites from the one admin.

Plus it has a lot of user restrictions for access control. Interesting!

So you want a website?

Good for you.

The important part of turning a *”Want”* into *Reality*, in this case a website, is to *PLAN it out.*

So you’ll need to plan the following:
(A pen and paper work really well here)
# What is it going to be about.
# What information will you have on it.
# Who is your target audience (who will want to read it)
# How do you want it to look.
# What features will you need.

Other aspects to consider are:
# Do you want it to be easily manageable.
# Is more than one person going to be modifying it.

*Know your strengths and weaknesses.*
Write these out and put a ranking of 1 to 10 beside them.
1 being “I have no idea” and 10 being “yes, absolutely”.

This will give you a quick view on what you need to research.
# Do you have a domain name?
# Do you have a webhosting account?
# How much do you know about creating a website?
# Do you know anyone that can help you answer these questions? (Hint : answer is 10)
